Womanhood and woman empowerment

Under the gloves of improved world economies, civilization and infrastructure development, lays the ugliest hand of hidden crimes and injustices ever committed against women all across the globe. Injustices so cruel, yet one that needs to be unveiled, looked into with fresh set of eyes, and addressed to bring a long lasting solution.

Womanhood is the epicenter, to the growth and prosperity of the human race. And violence against women within our respective communities and nations is the onset to our own demise. The issue of gender based violence against women and girls is an ideology founded and rooted, on the notion that womanhood is inferior, and being born as a girl is wrong, hence viewed as a liability.

For instance, the birth of a male child is seen as a continuity of the family lineage, and more often celebrated than that of a girl born into the family.

It’s obviously clear, right from birth and into adulthood, the journey as a girl, is one filled with  socially, cultural  and economically imposed challenges and obstacles, with the intent to limit the girl’s dreams, freedom and  the mind’s liberation. The birth of a girl is something not fully appreciated and valued within many communities.

And its’ this notion and ideology that needs to be addressed, early enough, to create a clear channel  towards  freedom and the liberation of the girl child.

A channel geared towards equal chance to access quality education, employment opportunities, better reproductive health and rights, equal accessibility to essential resources, such as clean water, better working environment, with strict policies against gender violence and discrimination,  just to a mention a few.

In order promote peaceful coexistence and to offer the respect women deserve.
