Parenting
is a critical and delicate concept to both the parent and their children. Parenting can be characterized into three approaches which include:

·       Parenting styles

·       Global parenting perception

·       Specific parenting practices.

 

What it means by parenting styles is what techniques and strategies as a parent you are using to raise your child into a well behaved and respectable person within the community. One who would be ready to face his or her future head on? Each parent has his or her own parental style of raising and nurturing their children. How each parent uses these strategies can impact the child’s development either positively or negatively.

There are four distinct parenting style widely and embraced and used around the world. They include:

  • Authoritarian parenting.
  • Authoritative parenting.
  • Permissive parenting.
  • Uninvolved or Neglectful parenting.

It’s wise to state and acknowledge that each distinctive, parenting style is marked by a distinctive pattern of behaviors and communication in the child’s development. These styles more often leave a mark on how a child develops; therefore it’s important for the  parent to understand how such parenting styles might impact their child.

By learning a little more about parenting styles, you can better understand your strengths and weaknesses as a parent.

 When it comes to matters of parenting , it’s wise to remember each style used , can affect every aspect of your child’s life right from how much your child weighs to how he or she feel about him or herself. Therefore, it’s important to ensuring your style in parenting supports and promotes a healthy growth and development. Simply, because the way you discipline and interact with your child will be of influence the rest of their life.
